15 Jul New South Wales Land Registry Services partner with Acclimation in an Australian first
Many organisations in Australia and New Zealand are feeling pressure like never before to digitally transform, innovate or at the very least modernise aging systems. For customers of SAP, S/4HANA is the path forward, but it has experienced a slow global adoption. S/4HANA replaces SAP’s ECC ERP version and includes many new business processes that take advantage of in-memory technology to dramatically simplify and enable completely new ways of operating. This includes financials, sales and distribution, procurement and enterprise asset management. As SAP ECC reaches end of life in 2025, SAP ECC customers now have to make some important decisions.
One Australian services partner has paved the way to make it even easier for businesses to get the gains of S/4HANA in a relatively painless way. Acclimation – a SAP Gold Partner, with the support of its partner, SNP Schneider-Neureither & Partner SE – have become the first organisation in Australia to complete a full conversion from SAP ECC to S/4HANA and re-platform to Amazon Web Services (AWS) for New South Wales Land Registry Services (NSW LRS). NSW LRS operates the NSW land titles registry for the State Government, which underpins the state’s secure, efficient and guaranteed system of land ownership.
While organisations generally anticipated that an upgrade or re-implementation would take ten months or more, with Acclimation taking the reins, the NSW LRS project was completed in a record time – a mere five months and two weeks. The full conversion included all historical data, Database change, Unicode conversion, NewGL, selected configurations, interfaces, customisations and all combined with the new business processes available in S/4HANA.
The team at Acclimation and SNP SE worked tirelessly alongside NSWLRS to make sure there was minimal downtime and comprehensive change management over the project. At the tail end, users experienced a seamless cutover with no impact to the day to day operations of the business. “Just like any project, there were challenges along the way,” says Michael Brockbank, Project Manager at Acclimation. “Yet, because of our success in delivering successful SAP projects and partnership with SNP SE, we didn’t find this a daunting prospect to take on.”
“The transition to the new platform has been seamless and we are really happy with the outcome,” commented Lesa Tobias, NSW LRS Chief Information Officer. “For our customers we are now providing better service, enabling lodgements to be submitted and processed faster than in the past. We have seen immediate performance improvements across common transactions such as sales orders, invoicing, payments and leave verifications. We have also eliminated many customised reports and are now taking advantage of the reports and insights available from S/4HANA.”
With a SAP customer base in Australia and abroad keenly watching to see what everyone else is doing, whether that’s to re-implement or convert, it’s no surprise that the success of this first conversion to S4/HANA in Australia is giving the industry plenty to talk about.
